PROVOCATIONS, INVITATIONS, AND CHILD LED PLAY

  • Strive (second floor) 265 Maitland Street London, ON, N6B 2Y3 Canada (map)

Facilitated By: Sara D’Alessandro & Liz Gannon, Strive Resource Centre Specialists

Join us in Strive's ECE Professional Resource Centre where Resource Centre Specialists, Sara and Liz, will take you on a tour and discuss one of the most important things a child does: play! During the session, participants will explore the plethora of provocations and invitations available to borrow, how to set it up, and how to let go and play. Sara will also discuss extending play based on children's interests in your practice.

Join in on this hands-on experience and let your inner child roam free in the Resource Centre.

Liz Gannon (She/They) is a Registered Early Childhood Educator who brings valuable experience to the early years field, having served in various capacities over several years. Passionate about advocating for the early years sector, Liz joined the Strive team a year ago as an intern and has since excelled, now serving as a Resource Centre Specialist. Previously, they worked as an educator in a Child Care center, where she nurtured her belief in the transformative power of literature to foster a sense of belonging among children and their families. They see literature as a window and sliding glass door into their lives. She believes that the ECE Professional Resource Centre provides educators with a vital platform to connect with literature and discover stories that enhance belonging and inclusion in their practice.

Sara D'Alessandro (She/Her) is a Registered Early Childhood Educator with a degree in Early Childhood Leadership and a post-graduate certificate in Autism and Behavioural Science. She has worked in different capacities in the early years field for several years and is passionate about advocacy for the early years sector. Sara joined the Strive team a year ago as a Resource Specialist, previously working as a toddler educator in a Child Care centre. She firmly believes in the importance of being in touch with your inner child when working in the early years because, as educators, we learn alongside children. Sara thinks the ECE Professional Resource Centre is the perfect place for educators to get inspired and back in touch with their inner child with all the beautiful provocations available.
