The systemic erasure of the stories of people across the Asian diaspora is so complete, many of us know next to nothing about the deep contributions we have made around the world. It is vital that we learn our history that we may draw strength from those who have come before in order to create bonds of solidarity across diverse Asian communities and beyond. Hear and see our people as we have so rarely been portrayed - with strength, fierceness and power - and explore ways we can each raise our voices louder for our community.

Joanna Ho is the New York Times-bestselling and award-winning author of many books for kids including picture books Eyes that Kiss in the Corners, Say My Name, and We Who Produce Pearls

She is a writer and educator with a passion for anti-bias, anti-racism and equity work.  She has been an English teacher, a dean, the designer of an alternative-to-prison program, a creator of educator professional development, and a high school vice principal.

She works deeply with restorative justice, project-based curriculum, design thinking and culturally-affirming pedagogy.

If she’s not writing, educator-ing, or mommying, she is most likely searching for the perfect chocolate chip cookie, reading books by diverse creators, or tromping through nature on epic outdoor adventures. Keep your eyes open for more books to come!
