RECONNECTING WITH CARE

Facilitated By:  Carol Garboden Murray, Author of Illuminating Care: The Pedagogy and Practice of Care in Early Childhood Communities

Looking at our work through the lens of care ethics allows us to claim and celebrate our unique identity as early childhood professionals. The nucleus of care offers us a unique opportunity to adopt a pedagogy of love and care as the serious sturdy foundation for nurturing a flourishing life.

In this session, Carol Garboden Murray will ask you to join her in exploring the view of care, language of care, and the contextual roots of care work. Together we can join the care movement and pioneer an empowered care practice for integrating head, heart, and hand learning and teaching.

Carol Garboden Murray (she/her) is currently the director of the Laboratory Nursery School at Vassar College in the Hudson Valley of New York State. She holds a Masters Degree in early childhood development and special education and she has been working with babies, toddlers, young children and families for many years.

Her passions include care ethics, nature, play, emergent curriculum, and writing about caring for and loving children. To read Carol’s professional articles or to find out more about Illuminating Care go to carolgarbodenmurray.com.
